Learn about ice fishing and catch your own dinner. A light winter activity, accessible to all types of travellers.
When winter arrives and lakes are covered with a thick layer of ice, it’s time to bundle up and go ice-fishing.
As one of the favourite winter activities of the locals, ice fishing competitions are widely organised throughout the region. All one needs is an ice drill, a rod, bait and a bit of luck in order to catch trout or arctic char for dinner. In order to reach the lake, we will leave basecamp on snowshoes and take all the necessary gear with us. Your guide will explain you how to drill a hole in the ice and the best fishing techniques. Later, we will warm up by the fire in a nearby cabin and maybe even prepare the catch of the day.
